I can’t remember the last time I was so excited for spring to arrive. I’ve added a few new pieces to my wardrobe specifically for spring, and I can’t wait to be able to get to wear them outside! Creating a wishlist for each season is helpful for me to stay on track to purchase the pieces I really need in my wardrobe. Specifically those pieces that add versatility and fill a void in my wardrobe. Otherwise, I always find myself buying pieces more suited for only evening wear. Which is ironic because I don’t go out that much to wear said pieces. You can see from my choices above that none of these are impractical, but pretty much necessities in a wardrobe.

OUTERWEAR

Building my outerwear collection is high on my list. I find outerwear adds so much versatility to an outfit. But somehow, I have yet to add a trench coat into the mix. Not only does a trench protect you from spring showers, it also seems to go with everything.

Besides a trench coat, I am on the hunt for blazers in hues other than black. A dusty pink is a fresh color for spring, while a beige hue will pair well with any color. I am paying close attention to the fabric when deciding on blazers. I would like one in a warmer wool for the beginning of spring and then a cotton version for when the weather warms.

CLOTHING

Silk has become my fabric of choice for spring and summer. I am loving slip dresses and simple silk camis. I would love to get my hands on anything from Refine, though Cuyana also does some beautiful pieces in silk.

While I have added quite a few cashmere sweaters into my wardrobe, I don’t really have any sweaters in fabrics better suited for warmer weather. A cotton or linen option would be great for spring and summer, especially on cooler nights. Also versatile are cardigans, which seems to be another sweater type not currently in my wardrobe. I love the look of wearing them on their own or layered on top of a silk cami.

Who doesn’t love a good stripe? Even though I love the look of striped tops, I seem to only have a short-sleeve option. I have my eye on Sézane’s version with the fun button detail on the shoulder. A linen option would also be good for warmer spring days.

ACCESSORIES

Accessories are the easiest way to add versatility to an outfit, and I definitely feel like I need to add a few items that will add that special touch to a look.

Since my husband gifted me a pair of diamond stud earrings for Christmas, I’ve been on a mission to create a carefully curated jewelry collection. I always wear earrings and am loving the delicate hoop styles I have been seeing from my favorite jewelry brands. I also love the look of several delicate bracelets stacked on a wrist.

I love love love hats. My vintage straw hat is almost always on my head in warmer months to protect me from the sun. I would love to add another color into the mix to be able to have some versatility.

Often overlooked as an accessory to add versatility to a wardrobe is a belt. Clinch’s belts offer multiple sizes of their signature belt buckle, with many styles of interchangeable belts. I’ve got my eye on both a light tan and black version.

SHOES

Shoes are always a category I struggle with. I seem to buy all the shoes I don’t need and none of the ones I do. A capsule wardrobe definitely needs shoes that are versatile but also practical for the weather of the season. On my wishlist I have 3 different styles I would like to add to my wardrobe. A white leather sneaker can work for any season and pretty much pair with anything else in your wardrobe. The mule and slingback styles are something I haven’t tried out, but I’m feeling more experimental with my style lately.

If you are a visual person like me, try creating a photo collage like the one above for your seasonal wishlist. It’s super simple with Canva, and you can download it onto your devices to have handy when you are shopping for your next pieces to add to your wardrobe.
